Physical Therapy Treatment for Neck Pain

’ÄúAs a family, we have loved the quality of care we received at Physical Therapy Innovations. My daughters, who play the violin and viola, were treated for tendonitis and neck strain; my husband for work-related forearm tendonitis and I have been in for tension and stress-related neck/shoulder pain. PTI has been great for all of us!’Äù

Neck pain, also known as cervical spine pain, is a very common disorder in our society. Whether driven from our occupation, or our daily activities, people are often placing increasing stress on our cervical spine without realizing it. Our neck is composed of a complex system of vertebrae, ligaments, intervertebral discs, muscles, and nerves. When increased stress is placed upon any of these structures, pain often results. Correct postural alignment of the neck is essential in distributing forces that are placed upon our neck during daily life. Simple tasks such as prolonged sitting at a computer or prolonged driving can place immense forces on certain structures of the neck and cause pain. Physical therapy can address postural alignment of the neck and help reduce inappropriate stress on your neck to help eliminate your neck pain.

Your Physical Health in General

Tissue irritation, resulting in pain, generally does not happen overnight. It is a slow process of musculoskeletal dysfunction that can potentially be identified long before any symptoms are felt. Physical therapists are trained to identify contributing factors to musculoskeletal impairments and dysfunction in order to correct and prevent future occurrence. If your physical health is important to you, and you would like to prevent future musculoskeletal problems, contact our office to inquire about preventative measures you can take to live a healthy, pain-free lifestyle.
